چکیده
Abstract Nanocalorimetry and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy are combined to measure the calorimetric properties molecular spectra of same sample (sample amount about 5 ng) polyamide 66 (PA66). By determining IR difference absorption between a quenched annealed at varying temperatures ( T ) annealing time t ), initial steps homogeneous nucleation is for first revealed on scale, long before crystallization takes place. As starting point (i), isolated H-bonds formed (N–H) (C = O) moieties adjacent (neighboring) polymer segments promoted by far-reaching dipole–dipole interactions. In second step (ii), realign, which in part requires opening already established H-bonds. stage FTIR intensity free f decreases while that H-bonded b ones increases as function constant . This implies an increase H-bonding network amorphous domains. The studied PA66 characterized number corresponding decrease transitions ordered crystalline structure. attributed change from γ α polymorphs PA66. non-polar methylene units largely unaffected during steps, where no changes overall heat capacity detectable, proving these occur prior onset crystal growth. Anisotropy in bone demineralization revealed by polarized far-IR spectroscopy.
Bone material is composed of an organic matrix of collagen fibers and apatite nanoparticles. Previously, vibrational spectroscopy techniques such as infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy have proved to be particularly useful for characterizing the two constituent organic and inorganic phases of bone. In this work, we tested the potential use of high intensity synchrotron-based far-IR radiation (...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Polyamide-66/Calcium Carbonate Composites
Polyamide-66(PA66)/CaCO3 micro- and nano-composites were prepared using a polymer solution method at filler loading of 0, 1, 2 and 3 weight percent. Nano-size of CaCO3 was synthesized by micro-emulsion technique. The material was characterized by XRD, SEM, FTIR and UV-VIS techniques. XRD results of composites suggested that CaCO3 particles are found in the amorphous phase of the semi-crystallin...
متن کاملHomogeneous nucleation: Comparison between two theories
The classical nucleation theory of Becker, Döring and Zeldovich is compared with the Langer coarse-grained field approach to the nucleation phenomenon. Both formalisms have been applied to the condensation from a supersaturated vapor. It is shown that the nucleation rate derived in the classical theory can be expressed in a form equivalent to that of the field nucleation theory. This equivalenc...
متن کاملNear-IR spectroscopy of PKS1549-79: a proto-quasar revealed?
We present a near-IR spectrum of the nearby radio galaxy PKS1549-79 (z = 0.153). These data were taken with the aim of testing the idea that this object contains a quasar nucleus that is moderately extinguished, despite evidence that its radio jet points close to our line-of-sight. We detect broad Paα emission (FWHM 1745 ± 40 km s), relatively bright continuum emission, and a continuum slope co...
متن کاملA salt-bridge structure in solution revealed by 2D-IR spectroscopy.
Salt bridges are important interactions for the stability of protein conformations, but up to now it has been difficult to determine salt-bridge geometries in solution. Here we characterize the spatial structure of a salt bridge between guanidinium (Gdm(+)) and acetate (Ac(-)) using two-dimensional vibrational (2D-IR) spectroscopy. We find that as a result of salt bridge formation there is a si...
